Naked is better
The Wellfleet is the latest addition to the "new" Oyster models in the Rainier collection. The brand has taken the award-winning design of the Moonstone and improved it by retuning the suspension for optimal performance of a naked elliptical diamond with the existing generator and resonance-optimized case of the rest of the Rainier series.
Wellfleet uses a highly polished elliptical stylus that eliminates the connection between the stylus tip and the shaft. With the new assembly, the excess mass in the shaft is removed to further reduce the mass of the tip, resulting in a faster, more direct, and more precise response from the movement of all components. For more speed and focus, clearer details, and greater dynamics
With the Wellfleet, voices are immediate, pure, and detailed; the warmth of the human voice is more pronounced and emphasizes subtleties, enhanced by tight and well-controlled bass. Background vocals are easier to recognize, and the listener is able to identify different instruments, such as the clatter of snare drums or the woody tones of an old acoustic guitar.

From Oyster to Reference, every Sumiko pickup is handcrafted in Yokohama, Japan—near the waters where the eponymous oysters live. Sumiko selects the finest materials by ear, which together deliver a performance that has enlightened generations of listeners. Each design is thoroughly tested until perfect. Production is then carried out by world-class master craftsmen with a shared eye for precision and quality.
